Instead of using just one magnetic sensor, [Peter] is building a two-dimensional array of magnetic sensors. Basically, it’s just a 12×12 grid of Hall effect sensors wired up to a bunch of analog multiplexers. It’s a complicated bit of routing, but building the device really isn’t hard; all the parts are easily hand-solderable.
The ones we used were custom made but we did have promising results using the readily available GMR and TMRs a while back.

These American tunnels will not be long digs such as in Switzerland. You are going underneath folds in the Appalachians, probably only 5,000 feet. Does not take long to do. Even at only 100 feet a day, you are all done digging in two months. Goes fast.

In combat, laser rifles would be useful for a wide variety of situations; soldiers in urban combat could use the PY132A, WJG-202 and BBQ-905 laser rifles to destroy the sensitive thermal imagers of enemy tanks or blind slow flying UAVs. Special forces could use them to knock out enemy security cameras and sabotage sensors. Such uses meet the international protocols in definition, but there are still concerns. When used against the sensors of manned aircraft such as attack helicopters, the beam scattering effect of all lasers, blinding ones included, means that pilots’ eyeballs could become "collateral" damage.

Problem is, there is a lot of industry involvement in cycling that almost mirrors that of F1 or auto racing. Trek/Giant/Specialized you name it uses it’s teams as a test bed for their high end bikes and to basically push new products/ideas to their limit.
